The Australian government has repealed Section 18C (Act 1) of the Racial Discrimination Act. Now, according to this change, it is now legal to insult, offend or humiliate somebody because of their nationality, colour or ethnic background.
This is a huge step backwards for anti-racism in Australia. The reason for this repeal is that some politicians, and even our human rights commissionerbelieve that this law is impeding on their freedom of speech. In other words, they’re pissed at not being able to say the n-word, and believe this is more important than making Australia a country that is free from racial abuse.
