I don’t normally post non-funny stuff here, but this is VERY important. A buddy of mine from college used to harp on and on incessantly about wanting to put a dent in world hunger using hydroponic farming (A closed-loop system of aquaculture in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic animals supplies all the essential nutrients for plants grown, which in turn purify the water.) He always said he was gonna start a business that would operate on the idea that for every pound of food they sold, they would donate a pound to the food bank. Like Toms shoes but with food. I jokingly mentioned I had a decent social media presence, and if he ever got plans together, I would let people know.
And I’ll be damned if he and his partner didn’t follow through. They just went live on Indiegogo today and have already secured 10,000 dollars of their needed 250,000 dollar goal. The whole thing operates on a completely transparent business model, and seeks to spread their deliberately unpatented self-sustained farm designs like this one
for free. They aren’t worried about people “stealing” the ideas. In fact, they encourage it. They just want to end world hunger.
I also told my buddy Andy that Tumblr would be a very productive place to spread the word to, being that 95% of you are activists in at least some capacity. So, here is the their official Tumblr, if you want to check that out and give them a follow.

They are the real deal guys. This is a phenomenally badass idea. SPREAD THE WORD.
